My Story
Hi, I’m Adel. I’m a creative communicator, performer, and consultant with a passion for making communication more inclusive, accessible, and human. I believe in creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, whether they’re neurodivergent, disabled, deaf, or simply experience the world a little differently.
I’m deaf, and I also live with invisible disabilities. Both have shaped how I move through the world and how I connect with others. These experiences have taught me that communication isn’t one-size-fits-all. It comes in many forms, and they’re all valid.
Embracing BSL, SSE, and Visual Communication
I first began learning British Sign Language (BSL) while living in Scotland, and I instantly felt at home in its expressive, visual flow. Alongside BSL, I use Sign Supported English (SSE), which blends signs with the structure of spoken English. I often use SSE in settings where not everyone signs fluently, as it offers a bridge, helping communication flow more smoothly between signing and non-signing people.
Both BSL and SSE have been powerful tools, not just for connection, but for confidence and self-expression.
Understanding Difference, Creating Belonging
Living with disabilities has made me especially sensitive to how people communicate, and how often traditional systems leave people out. Whether someone processes information differently, communicates in a nonverbal way, or just needs a bit more time or flexibility, they deserve to be met with understanding, not barriers.
That’s why I care deeply about neurodiversity, disability awareness, and inclusive design. I work with individuals, organisations, and brands to help them better connect with diverse audiences, not through tokenism, but through meaningful change.
